About Me

Experience

I am applying for the position of a Psychotherapist in your organization. I have a Master of Divinity degree in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale College, University, and Seminary with CRPO qualifying status. I am interested in applying for this position because the organization shares the mission of offering hope and support. Life can be challenging, but there is hope and I strongly believe that with hope and support begins to change. My position as Individual, couple, and family therapist in providing guidance, assessment, evaluation, and treatment for diverse clients and populations in Catholic Community Services of York Region, providing therapy for individuals, couples and families. I have dealt with and still dealing with clients with trauma and traumatization from different backgrounds as an Individual, couple, and family therapist, using different modalities especially CBT, and I am starting my training in DBT in August .
My experience interning at Maplehurst Correctional Complex affords me the opportunity to serve a population presenting a range of psychological disorders as well as emotional, behavioral, substance abuse, and developmental challenges. I have experience in implementing and leading workshops on grief and trauma as part of crisis intervention. Over the years, I have grown in my passion for working with vulnerable populations. I can utilize my knowledge, skills and provide support to clients facing complex socio-economic circumstances, including those experiencing mental illness, abuse, trauma, and physical disabilities. I also have extensive knowledge and the ability to provide outreach and services that are responsive to the needs of the youths, adolescent, individuals, couples, and their families.
As well, my experience at Trash to Treasure Ministries so far in the counseling field as a counselor and life coach has allowed me to grow in my level of patience, empathy, and relationship building. I have worked with youths by helping them recognize their strength and empowering them to reach their goals. With these skill sets, I have developed my problem-solving skills, supportive skills and expanded my personal attributes that are vital to the therapeutic process.
