Desirée Knack is a Registered Kinesiologist, licensed with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and she has over 20 years of experience in the field of movement and rehabilitation. Prior to starting Fit to Function Kinesiology in 2003, Desiree held positions in health and fitness settings, corporate fitness, municipal recreation, employment testing evaluation, exercise prescription and intervention, pain management and functional assessment.
Desirée holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Psychology from Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario), and subsequently earned a Post-Graduate Honours Recreation and Leisure Services Diploma from Humber College.
Over the course of her career, Desirée has had the fortune of working with a variety of clients, injuries, and medical conditions, and a diverse collection of highly accredited health care and wellness professionals in multi-disciplinary settings. Such varied experience has helped Desirée to identify that she enjoys both, teaching people and working with them, to understand how movement plays a key role in recovery, daily life, function and lifestyle improvement.
To provide the best treatment to all of her clients, Desirée regularly engages in furthering her professional knowledge through courses, reading and conferences. Shaping her treatment philosophy, lifelong involvement in sport has taught Desirée the solid values of integrity, perseverance and an indomitable spirit, each of which she teaches her clients to help them in their recovery. Desirée is a firm believer that movement promotes healing on emotional, psychological and physiological levels.
In her spare time, Desirée can be found leading an active lifestyle through exercise and playing sports, and enjoying her family’s athletic and academic pursuits. Although playing soccer year-round is her favourite sport, Desirée also enjoys strength training, running, aquatic exercise, and enjoying the great outdoors to hike, camp, and cycle. She lives by the slogan, use it or lose it; movement is freedom!
