Regulated health professional with more than 17 years of clinical experience and over 10 years of leadership experience. Extensive experience working in interdisciplinary clinical settings - including unionized and non-unionized environments - in hospitals, academic medical centres and universities.
Extensive experience in collaborating with patients and family members, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and other staff, as well as senior management and industry representative. Excellent understanding and training in principles of adult education and behavioural modification techniques as well as advanced exercise assessment and prescription skills.
Professional Bio
Leslie Van Zelst-Lempp has over 17 years of experience working as an Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Registered Kinesiologist, as well as 10 years of leadership experience in numerous health care settings, mainly in outpatient chronic disease management. Leslie has particular interest in primary and secondary cardiac rehabilitation, women’s health, behavioural health coaching, sports performance, sports cardiology and healthcare project management. Leslie was raised in Chatham, Ontario. Her interest in fitness began at the age of six, when she entered the world of competitive gymnastics. She competed for 8 years then moved on to varsity and club-level sports in high school, and eventually University basketball. Eager to turn her passion for athletics into a career, Ms. Van-Zelst-Lempp obtained her Honours Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor in Movement Science. She then received her industry designation by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and is a member in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. When she’s not with her patients, Leslie enjoys spending time with her amazing husband and two incredible daughters, hanging out with family and friends, travelling, being outdoors and reading. She stays active by training for triathlons, practicing pilates and yoga, performing strength training and playing in a local basketball league.
